Why is my mini-split leaking water inside the house?
Almost always a blocked condensate drain. The indoor head pulls moisture out of the air and it has to run somewhere. Dust, algae and insects clog the line, water backs up in the pan and finds the wall. We clear the drain and check the slope.
Can one bad indoor head stop the whole multi-zone system?
Sometimes yes. On many multi-zone systems the heads share a communication line with the outdoor unit, so a shorted board or damaged wire on one head can fault the whole system. We isolate heads one at a time to find the offender.
How often do mini-splits need cleaning to keep working?
The washable filters in each head want rinsing every few weeks in a Florida cooling season, and the blower wheel inside the head needs a deeper cleaning periodically. Salt air also builds on the outdoor coil. Dirty equipment runs longer and fails sooner.
Is a refrigerant leak worth repairing or should I replace the unit?
It depends where the leak is and how old the system is. A leaking flare connection at the line set is usually a straightforward repair. A pinhole in an indoor coil on a well-worn system is a harder conversation, and we will lay out both paths.
What does the error code on my remote mean?
Codes are brand specific and point to a family of problems rather than one part: sensor faults, communication loss, high pressure, inverter trouble. Tell us the code and the brand when you call and we will arrive with a good idea of what we are chasing.
Do you repair mini-splits as well as regular ducted AC systems?
