Refrigerant Leak Repair

We find and repair refrigerant leaks in residential air conditioning systems across Florida, then recharge the system to the correct level so it cools again. If your AC runs constantly without getting the house cool, the indoor coil ices over, or the outdoor line is frosted, a leak is a likely cause. Adding refrigerant without finding the leak only buys a few months. Call us and describe what you are seeing, and we will schedule a leak search and repair on your system.

What a refrigerant leak repair involves

We start by confirming the system is actually low on refrigerant rather than short on airflow, because a clogged filter can mimic the same symptoms. Once low charge is confirmed, we pressure test and trace the circuit with electronic detection and dye where it helps, checking the coils, the line set, the service valves and the brazed joints. After the leak is repaired we evacuate the system, weigh in the correct charge, and verify pressures and temperature split while it runs.

What we check and what we replace

Coastal air in this region eats copper and aluminium, so we look hard at the outdoor coil, the suction line insulation and any spot where a line rubs against a bracket or slab. Indoor evaporator coils leak too, often at the U-bends. Depending on what we find we repair a joint, replace a section of line set, swap a leaking valve or Schrader core, or quote a coil replacement. We also check the drain and the airflow, since a starved coil often shows up alongside a leak.

How we decide repair is the right call

We weigh the leak location, the age of the system, and the type of refrigerant in it. A single accessible joint on a system with years left is a straightforward repair. A leaking evaporator coil on an older unit that runs almost year round is a different conversation, and we will lay out repair against replacement with the actual condition of the equipment in front of you. If a system has been topped up repeatedly, that history matters and we will say so plainly.

Refrigerant Leak Repair — quick answers

Can you just add refrigerant and skip the leak search?

A sealed system does not consume refrigerant, so low charge means it escaped somewhere. We can recharge to get you cooling, but we will always recommend finding the leak, otherwise you are paying again soon.

How long does a leak search take?

Most searches take a couple of hours, depending on how much of the line set is accessible and whether the leak is small. Slow leaks sometimes need dye and a follow-up visit to pinpoint.

Why do leaks keep happening on coastal homes?

Salt air corrodes coil metal and line set connections from the outside in, and systems here run long hours, so vibration works at brazed joints. Both together shorten coil life compared with inland homes.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, ice on the lineset, a humming outdoor unit. That detail helps us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the air handler, the condenser and the electrical side, then measure what the system is actually doing. You get a plain explanation of the fault and the repair options before we start.

  3. Step 3

    We repair and verify

Once the repair is done we run the system and confirm temperature split, drainage and airflow at the vents. If a part is on order, we tell you the timeline instead of leaving you guessing.

Why homeowners call us

  • We plan for salt airCoastal humidity and salt eat coils, contactors and cabinet screws. We look for corrosion during every visit and treat it as part of the diagnosis, not an afterthought, so a repaired system does not fail again in the same spot.
  • Built for constant runtimeFlorida systems run most of the year, so bearings, capacitors and drain lines wear faster than the manual suggests. We size repairs around that reality and point out the components likely to be next in line.
  • Old houses and new onesIsland properties often hide ductwork in tight, damp spaces, while tract homes tend to have short, undersized returns. We have worked both and adjust the approach rather than forcing one standard fix.
  • Clear talk, no upsell theatreWe tell you what failed, what it takes to fix it, and whether repair or replacement makes more sense for the age of the equipment. If a repair will hold, we say so and get on with it.

  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
