High-Efficiency Upgrade

A high-efficiency upgrade means replacing an aging furnace or air handler with a modern, better-performing unit, and we do this work for homeowners across the region. Most people call us when the old system runs constantly, heats unevenly, or has needed heating repair two or three winters in a row. We measure the home, check the ductwork, and give you a straight answer on whether replacement makes sense. Call us and we will schedule a load calculation before anyone talks about equipment.

What the job involves

We start with a load calculation, not a guess based on the old unit. Oversized equipment short cycles, and in humid Florida air that leaves you clammy instead of comfortable. Once we know the BTU requirement, we remove the old furnace or air handler, adapt the plenum and return, and set the new unit level with proper clearances. Electrical and gas connections are handled by our crew. We finish by commissioning the system, checking temperature rise and airflow, and walking you through the thermostat.

What we check and install

Ductwork gets inspected first, because a new high-efficiency unit pushing air through leaky, undersized ducts will disappoint you. We look at return sizing, sealing at the boots, and insulation on runs through hot attic space. On coastal and older properties we also check for corrosion at the cabinet, drain pan, and coil, since salt air shortens hardware life. Installation includes a matched coil where needed, a new condensate path, a fresh filter rack, and a thermostat that actually controls the equipment's staging.

How we decide it is the right call

If your system is well past its expected life, needs repeated furnace repair, or runs almost nonstop to hold setpoint, replacement usually beats another patch. If it is a decade old with one failed part, we fix it and tell you so. We weigh the age, the condition of the heat exchanger or coil, refrigerant type, duct quality, and how the house actually feels room to room. You get both options written out, and you decide without anyone leaning on you.

High-Efficiency Upgrade — quick answers

Will a high-efficiency upgrade help with humidity, not just temperature?

Often yes. Right-sized equipment with proper staging runs longer, gentler cycles, which removes more moisture from the air. Oversized systems cool fast, shut off, and leave the house cool but damp.

Do I need new ductwork with a new system?

Not always. We inspect sizing, sealing, and insulation first. Sometimes sealing joints and adding return capacity is enough. If the ducts are crushed or badly undersized, we say so before installation.

Does salt air affect a new high-efficiency unit?

It does. Coastal humidity and salt accelerate corrosion on coils, cabinets, and drain pans. We recommend coated coils where appropriate and set up a maintenance rhythm that catches early corrosion.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, ice on the lineset, a humming outdoor unit. That detail helps us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the air handler, the condenser and the electrical side, then measure what the system is actually doing. You get a plain explanation of the fault and the repair options before we start.

  3. Step 3

    We repair and verify

Once the repair is done we run the system and confirm temperature split, drainage and airflow at the vents. If a part is on order, we tell you the timeline instead of leaving you guessing.

Why homeowners call us

  • We plan for salt airCoastal humidity and salt eat coils, contactors and cabinet screws. We look for corrosion during every visit and treat it as part of the diagnosis, not an afterthought, so a repaired system does not fail again in the same spot.
  • Built for constant runtimeFlorida systems run most of the year, so bearings, capacitors and drain lines wear faster than the manual suggests. We size repairs around that reality and point out the components likely to be next in line.
  • Old houses and new onesIsland properties often hide ductwork in tight, damp spaces, while tract homes tend to have short, undersized returns. We have worked both and adjust the approach rather than forcing one standard fix.
  • Clear talk, no upsell theatreWe tell you what failed, what it takes to fix it, and whether repair or replacement makes more sense for the age of the equipment. If a repair will hold, we say so and get on with it.

  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
