UV Lights & Ventilation

We install and service UV lights and ventilation upgrades in home cooling and heating systems across Florida, usually in houses where the AC runs nearly year round and the coil never fully dries out. If you smell a musty odor when the air handler kicks on, or you see growth on the coil or in the drain pan, that is the call. Reach out and we will look at your system, your humidity and your duct layout before recommending anything.

What the job involves

A UV installation means mounting a lamp inside the air handler so it shines on the wet surfaces where mold likes to sit, which is the evaporator coil and the drain pan. We cut and seal the access, wire the fixture to a safe power source, and confirm the lamp is aimed at the coil rather than at bare wiring or flex duct. Ventilation work is different. That is about bringing in filtered outside air or exhausting stale air, and it usually involves new duct runs and a controlled damper.

What we check or install

Before we quote a lamp, we open the air handler and look. We check coil condition, drain pan standing water, filter fit and whether the return is pulling air from a humid attic or crawlspace. We measure indoor humidity and look at runtime, because a system cycling constantly in coastal air behaves differently than one in a tight inland home. Then we install what fits: a coil-facing UV lamp, a fresh air intake with filtration, a bath or attic exhaust correction, or some combination.

How we decide it is the right call

UV lights help with what grows on surfaces inside the unit. They do not fix a clogged drain line, an oversized system that short cycles, or duct leaks pulling in attic air. If we find one of those, we say so and fix the cause first, because a lamp shining on a flooded pan is money spent on the wrong problem. Ventilation makes sense when the house is sealed tight and the air feels stale or stuffy even with the AC working normally.

UV Lights & Ventilation — quick answers

Does a UV light replace my air filter?

No. The filter catches dust and particles moving through the return. A UV lamp treats growth on the coil and pan surfaces it can actually shine on. They do different jobs and work best together.

How often does the lamp need replacing?

Most UV bulbs lose output well before they burn out, so they get changed on a schedule rather than when they go dark. We note the install date and check output during regular service visits.

Will ventilation make my AC run more?

Bringing in outside air adds some load, especially in humid weather, which is why we size the intake carefully and pair it with filtration. Done right the change in runtime is modest.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, ice on the lineset, a humming outdoor unit. That detail helps us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the air handler, the condenser and the electrical side, then measure what the system is actually doing. You get a plain explanation of the fault and the repair options before we start.

  3. Step 3

    We repair and verify

Once the repair is done we run the system and confirm temperature split, drainage and airflow at the vents. If a part is on order, we tell you the timeline instead of leaving you guessing.

Why homeowners call us

  • We plan for salt airCoastal humidity and salt eat coils, contactors and cabinet screws. We look for corrosion during every visit and treat it as part of the diagnosis, not an afterthought, so a repaired system does not fail again in the same spot.
  • Built for constant runtimeFlorida systems run most of the year, so bearings, capacitors and drain lines wear faster than the manual suggests. We size repairs around that reality and point out the components likely to be next in line.
  • Old houses and new onesIsland properties often hide ductwork in tight, damp spaces, while tract homes tend to have short, undersized returns. We have worked both and adjust the approach rather than forcing one standard fix.
  • Clear talk, no upsell theatreWe tell you what failed, what it takes to fix it, and whether repair or replacement makes more sense for the age of the equipment. If a repair will hold, we say so and get on with it.

  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
